Efficient brainstorming

The offices of the future are being used ever more flexibly. 'The new way of working' where the employee gets to choose where and when he or she works, calls for alternative possibilities: apps for reserving a desk, lockers for storing personal belongings, bubbles to be able to work more intensively, and spaces for holding a short brainstorming session with colleagues or on your own.

We would like to share a few tips for an efficient brainstorming session:

1. The question

Think carefully about what question you are trying to answer. Write it down clearly before you start, and forward it to your colleagues. That way, they can have a think about the subject beforehand.

2. Location

Opt for a room with a more informal atmosphere, so that people can feel comfortable and emboldened to take part in the discussion.

3. First comes quantity

The first step in a brainstorming session is about quantity, not quality. Write down as many ideas as possible and make it clear to your colleagues that during this phase, there is no such thing as a bad idea. Of course, people are allowed to think outside the box, and perhaps this will lead on to other ideas.

4. Quality comes from quantity

Gather all the ideas together according to certain rules, and start filtering them. Then choose 3 or 4 for further elaboration.

Need a whiteboard?

You will certainly be able to get started using these tips! Don't have the right infrastructure yet? Then perhaps Beddeleem has the answer for you. For teamwork, Beddeleem offers various solutions, and specifically for writing up ideas during a brainstorming session, a number of types of whiteboard are available:

Partition panel

Part of or a whole partition panel in our JB 2000, JB FRAME or JB FLUSH partition systems can be replaced by a metal whiteboard.

Coloured glas

In our glass partition systems, this can be done with coloured glass, which also gives you a panel you can write on. Part of the glass can even be screen-printed so that it remains transparent above and below.

Flexible solution

A more flexible solution is a panel that hangs on the partition, and so can be moved around. The panel can be a metal whiteboard or a coloured glass panel. This is possible for our JB 2000, JB FRAME and JB FLUSH.

Our latest solution is also the new addition to our range: a sliding partition with a section that you can write on.  This means that a room can be divided in two if you are working in smaller teams, and a writeable surface is always available.
