Working together to reduce CO₂ emissions

At Beddeleem, we believe that sustainability is not a standalone initiative but an integral part of the way we do business. That is why we have implemented an energy and CO₂ management system in accordance with the requirements of the CO₂ Performance Ladder Handbook 4.0 – Level 1. This system enables us to systematically measure, manage and continuously improve our energy performance and CO₂ emissions.

The CO₂ Performance Ladder perfectly aligns with our sustainability ambition, "Contribute to a Cool Planet." Through a structured approach, we are committed to reducing our climate impact, improving energy efficiency and building a futureproof organisation.

What does Level 1 mean?

Level 1 of the CO₂ Performance Ladder focuses on gaining insight into our energy consumption and CO₂ emissions, setting clear objectives and establishing a reliable energy and CO₂ management system. We apply the Plan-Do-Check-Act (PDCA) cycle, making continuous improvement an integral part of the way we work.

Our ambitions

Based on a detailed carbon footprint assessment and energy review, we have defined clear objectives for the years ahead:

22.6% reduction in CO₂ emissions (Scope 1 and 2) by 2030, compared to the 2023 baseline.

86.7% reduction in CO₂ emissions (Scope 1 and 2) by 2050, compared to the 2023 baseline.

Increase the self-consumption of on-site generated solar energy to 55% by 2030.

Transition to 100% renewable energy by 2045.

Transparency and continuous improvement

Beddeleem's management is committed to providing the necessary resources, expertise and follow-up to achieve these objectives. Through internal and external audits, regular reporting and annual evaluations, we closely monitor our progress and make adjustments wherever necessary.

For us, the CO₂ Performance Ladder is not an end goal, but another step in a journey that has been underway for many years. It enables us to continue creating sustainable, circular and futureproof workplaces for our customers and employees.

Since 2020, Beddeleem has been actively working to reduce its climate impact. Through the Taking Climate Action label by CO2Logic, we annually monitor our CO₂ emissions, set reduction targets and track the implementation of concrete improvement actions.

The CO₂ Performance Ladder is therefore not the starting point of our sustainability journey, but the next step in an approach that has been firmly embedded in our organisation for many years.
