Take Climate Action - Silver Company since 2020

Since 2020, Beddeleem has been actively committed to reducing its climate impact.

Our journey is evaluated and certified annually through the Take Climate Action label by CO2logic and Vinçotte.

This label confirms that we are taking concrete actions:

  • Annual CO₂ analysis of our activities
  • Active emission reduction, through renewable energy, efficient processes, and sustainable transport
  • Offsetting residual emissions via certified climate projects

CO₂ emissions 2024 in figures

In 2024, our total measured emissions amounted to 1,009 tons of CO₂. This includes:

  • 569 tons CO₂ (Scopes 1 & 2)
    • Scope 1: direct emissions from our own installations and vehicles
    • Scope 2: indirect emissions from purchased energy (such as electricity and heating)
  • 440 tons CO₂ (part of Scope 3)
    • Other indirect emissions such as commuting, waste, business travel, and energy-related activities outside Scopes 1 & 2

We work hard each year to achieve our reduction targets and remain aligned with the long-term ambitions we committed to in 2020.
Beddeleem aims to reduce Scope 1 and 2 emissions with 42% by 2030 (compared to 2021).
For part of Scope 3, for which we have already been collecting data for a longer period, we aim for a 25% reduction by 2030.

These targets are in line with the guidelines of the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) for the 1.5°C scenario of the Paris Agreement.

Climate Projects

In addition to our own reduction efforts, we are committed to not shifting today’s climate impact onto future generations. That’s why we also invest in certified climate projects that contribute to global emission reductions and help achieve international climate goals.

Concrete Actions

We take responsibility across all aspects of our operations:

  • Own green energy production, with no less than 4,200 solar panels installed at our Nazareth-De Pinte site since 2011
  • Sustainable energy management, including high-performance monitoring, smart consumption, and procurement of green electricity for residual usage
  • Continuous renewal of our machinery towards more energy-efficient alternatives
  • Circular construction as the standard: we design, produce, and build with a focus on reusability, modularity, and long lifespan
  • Innovation in sustainable products, including our Cradle to Cradle®-certified partition walls
  • Waste reduction and recycling, both in production and on construction sites
  • Awareness among employees and clients, including training sessions and workshops on sustainability

These actions are an integral part of our sustainability strategy Realise the Futureproof Workspace, and more specifically of Goal 2: Contribute to a cool planet. We don’t just create sustainable workspaces — we do so with the planet in mind.

Supply Chain Responsibility

In 2024, we conducted a complete scope 3 mapping for the first time, based on the spent-based method. Based on that, we will later define concrete reduction targets for the full scope 3 emissions.

Collaboration with GoForest

In addition to our climate projects under the Take Climate Action label, we also invest in certified, project-based reforestation and agroforestry initiatives through GoForest. This partnership enables us to contribute to local ecosystems and communities through targeted tree planting. We have already supported tree planting projects in Belgium, Peru and Armenia. Each project is concrete, tangible, and perfectly aligned with our vision of bringing sustainability efforts closer to people.

Together for a greener planet, the restoration of biodiversity, and the fight against climate change.
