Cradle to Cradle®: a circular economy.
As “waste is food” is to the sustainability principle, “the new way of working” is to office design and layout.
Beddeleem adopts this approach and participates in a circular economy. We target zero waste after the life cycle of a product. In a circular economy the materials are either returned to nature or recycled and re-used to create new products.
To this end, Beddeleem pursues the ‘Cradle to Cradle Certified TM Product Standard’ during the design process.
Beddeleem already has different products under the Cradle to Cradle® banner and aims to get even more products certified in the future. Both by modifying existing products and taking into account the principles when designing new products.
Beddeleem endeavours to investigate and assess all the ingredients of all products in terms of their impact on public health and the environment. Accordingly, safer and healthier options are sought wherever necessary.
Beddeleem products are mostly made of glass, aluminium and steel. These products are biodegradable and are designed in such a way that many of the elements can be re-used again and again with the same quality level.
Beddeleem produces sustainable energy by means of solar panels with a view to covering all its own electricity needs. The 30,000 m² roof on our factory in Nazareth has more than 5,500 solar panels, which equates to around 1.1 megawatts peak capacity. Around 50% of this is for own use and 50% is fed back to the grid.
Beddeleem uses water during the coating process and ensures that the water used is purified before being discharged back into the sewerage system.
Beddeleem products are socially sustainable. Motivated and healthy employees are, after all, important to productivity and image.
